The Beatles


The Beatles were one of the most famous bands of the world. They four members of the band from Liverpool had success around the world. (ein paar Lieder von den Beatles)

The four members were:

John Lennon:
He was born on October 9^th, 1940 in Liverpool. He played the guitar, he sang and he was the leader of the band. In 1955 he found the band "The Quarry Men". Their first gig was on Ju1y 9^th1957. There he met Paul McCartney who played background for John and John asked Paul if he wouldn’t like to join the band. Some time later George Harrison also came to the "The Quarry Men".
John loved the music of Elvis Presley and it helped the band with there music and so they got a Rock ‘n ‘Roll band. After that they changed their name to "Johnny & The Moondogs bat after a schort time the changed it back to "The Quarry Men". After some time John had the idea with the famous name "The Beatles". He married Yoko Ono and he had big success with his solo career and his song "Imagine". (Imagine)
On December 8^th, 1980 he was shot by David Mark Chapman outside his apartment building.

Paul McCartney:
He was born on June 18^th, 1942 in Liverpool. He played the bass - guitar, piano and he sang. On day travelling to school he mat George Harrison. Another good friend of Paul was Ivan Vaughan who invited Paul to a gig where he met John Lennon. There he joined the band. The most songs of the Beatles were written in the early days of the Beatles. John wrote the Rock ‘n’ Roll songs they were dreamy, snappy and often against the English society. Paul wrote the more romantic songs like "Yesterday, Michelle and When I’m sixty - four".
Paul married Linda Eastman in 1969 and they had four children Heather, Mary, Stella and James.
Paul made a solo album called "McCartney" and other albums with the band "Wings" together with his wife Linda. (ein Lied von Paul)

George Harrison
He was born on February 25^th, 1943 in Liverpool. He played the guitar and he sang. He joined the group "The Quarry Men" with John Lennon and Paul McCartney. He met the model Pattie Boyd, and they married in January 21^stin 1966. George met Ravi Shankar and Mahareshi Yogi. From Ravi, George learned to love Indian music and play the sitar. From Yogi he learned spiritual inner peace and meditation.
George, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Roy Orbinson formed the "Travelling Willburys in 1988. The group was a big success. (ein Lied von den Wilburys)

Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr)
He was born on July 7^th, 1940 in Liverpool. He played the drums and he sang. When he was a child he had a lot of operations while he was in a two months coma. Richard had a lot of bands but he finally found the band Rory Storm & The Hurricans. At the beginning of The Beatles their drummer was Pete Best but their manager George Martin didn’t like him so Ringo Starr came to the band. And so the Beales were perfect. Ringo married Maureen Cox on February 11^th, 1965 and they had three children: Zak. Jason and Lee. (ein Lied von Ringo)


The Beatles
The Beatles first single was "Love me do" and it was a hit around the world. They got the decoration "Members of the Britisch Empire". The Beatles sold more than 200 millions LPs.
At the end of the Beatles the made a lot of experiment with their music and George wrote a lot of Indian songs.
In 1970 the group disolved. The four had problems with their music and drugs. They all tried to have success with their solo career.
